An independent, honestly-written guide to Madrid, started small and built to grow — here's who's behind it and how it works.
Totally Madrid is an independent travel guide covering the city department by department — Plan, Stay, Places, Do, Day Trips, Food and Culture — rather than as a single endless blog feed. The idea is simple: organise Madrid the way a good local friend would explain it, in specific, honest guides rather than generic "top 10" listicles padded out to hit a word count.
Every guide is written from real, checked facts — historical dates, opening details, transport times, verified against official sources rather than copied from other travel sites. We say plainly when something is touristy, overpriced, or simply not worth the detour, alongside what's genuinely worth your time. We don't accept paid placement in the hotels directory or anywhere else on the site.
The site launched small on purpose and is being built out weekly — more hotel profiles, more neighbourhoods, more attractions, and progressively more languages (see our FAQ for the translation roadmap). The goal is genuine depth over time, not a rushed wall of thin pages.
